"One of the more rewarding aspects of reviewing music is finding that jewel in the rough, an album from an independent
and relatively unknown artist which displays an uncommon artistry or vision. Rewriting Destiny by Soulwire (Ken Hill) is one
such CD." -New Age Reporter
When the Last Leaf Falls
A tree
struggles in the middle of desolation. The desert, broken dreams of the past, had destroyed the land. It would
have seemed impossible for anything to grow, yet here stands a dying tree. A boy and a girl sit close, leaning back
and watching the final leaf separate itself and slowly descend perilously to the ground. The boy gets up for a moment
to catch it, but cannot stop the winds of change. It crashes into the ground.
The boy turns to the girl, but she has vanished. Time speeds to a blurring whirlwind,
as the tree withers and decays. The boy sits unmoving, watching it wilt away until it is gone. He lays down where
it had once grown and solemnly falls asleep, dreaming of the days of old before it was dying, when it was vibrant and lush.
And in the dream, he remembers there were seeds... Many seeds that fell. He opens his eyes and sees dozens of new plants sprouting
between the dry cracks of lifelessness, followed by a gentle rain.
